Throughout her life, Kristina Zaslavskaya has had to find balance between her personal life, academic career, and athletic endeavors. She looks forward to her future with focus and determination.
Born in the city of Rostov-on-Don, Russia, Kristina grew up with her parents, grandparents, and younger brother. He began figure skating at the age of eight and has continued ever since. Her life in Russia was a balance between family, school, and skating.
When she was a teenager, Kristina’s parents decided to apply for a Green Card to the United States, but the process took several years. After sending the second application, her father won the Green Card lottery, and the family prepared for the voyage. Kristina’s first stop was in Chicago where her aunt lived. She was awestruck by what she saw. After the astonishment came apprehension; everything seemed so different and strange.
Since then, Kristina has adjusted to her new routine in the United States. She is currently enrolled at Shattuck-St. Mary’s School in Faribault, MN. She continues to participate in figure skating and has won numerous medals with her team. In the future, she looks forward to the many opportunities in front of her.
