When he first arrived in California, Ashim Suri “felt a little lost”; he had to rely on his wife and in-laws for help with the simplest things. Now, he has established himself and is thriving in his new home.
Mr. Suri was born and raised in Delhi, India and spent most of his early life there. After completing his higher education, Ashim found a job as a technical recruiter in Delhi. He fell in love with an Indian woman who had recently immigrated to the U.S. When they married, Mr. Suri started to consider a future abroad.
In 2011, Mr. Suri visited the U.S. for forty-five days. During that time, he researched job markets and networked with professionals until he felt confident that moving to America was a feasible option. Ashim returned to India to contemplate the matter and ultimately decided to move in 2012.
With assistance from Upwardly Global—an immigrant job service organization—he found a job as a technical recruiter for GlobalLogic, a position he holds currently. Mr. Suri gives back to his community by serving as a mentor for Upwardly Global. He lives in Fremont, California with his wife.
